  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion (finely grated or minced)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine breadcrumbs and milk in a bowl; let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix ground beef, grated onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Fold in the breadcrumb mixture gently.
  3. Form small meatballs (about 1 inch in diameter) using your hands.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and brown the meatballs on all sides (about 10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, whisk flour into melted butter until smooth. Gradually add beef broth while stirring until thickened. Stir in heavy cream and soy sauce.
  6. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer gently for about 10 minutes.
