  • 3 T unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup apple cider
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 T unsalted butter (for topping)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and mix in 1/3 cup of apple cider; set aside.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 egg with the cider-butter mixture until smooth.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until just mixed.
  6. Spray your donut pan and fill each cavity with batter using a piping bag or spoon.
  7. Bake for about 7 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean; let cool slightly.
  8. For topping, melt another 3 tablespoons of butter; mix 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, and 1½ teaspoons cinnamon in a bowl.
  9. Dip each donut in melted butter then roll in the sugar mixture.
